Wind Energy Management System: Powered by the PI System Infrastructure
Featuring an 8.5 gigawatt installed capacity and a portfolio of more than 5,000 wind turbine generators in 11 countries, EDP Renewables is a leading, global renewable energy company devoted to value creation, innovation and sustainability. OSIsoft’s PI Server is the main repository for all field data (generators, substations and meteo stations) collected in real-time on more than 3.5 million tags. This presentation will show how that data is used to improve the accuracy of availability reporting for wind farms and contributes to reduce wind turbine’s downtimes.
SERGIO PEREIRA is Lead Engineer in EDP Renewables’ Remote Operations and Performance Infrastructure department. With broad experience in the power generation industry, Pereira has been part of the team responsible for designing the requirements of the Wind Energy Management System and following up its implementation, with a special focus on the Performance Management module (OPMS).
Nuno Ferreira is Consultant Coordinator for Performance Management in CGI’s Renewable Management System. He has a 10 years’ experience in the development of real-time high integrity systems and presently leads CGI’s team implementing EDP Renewables Operational Performance Management System (OPMS).
