Development and Implementation of Power plant Operation and Maintenance Management System (POMMS)
There have been many changes of the electric industry in Korea since 1998. Specifically, electric generation was separated from KEPCO (a public enterprise) as five subsidiary companies based on the electric trading system. ERP & EAM have been the main trend of their enterprise management system; most power plants have also applied it for equipment management at the same time. Those systems strongly emphasize business flow and work flow re-engineering. The response of maintenance and operation is improved after such system application but key performance indicator, failure rate or availability of plant, doesn’t become better. Even though new technologies for optimization of maintenance and operation are introduced to power plants nearly every year to decide work scope and time of maintenance, the success of implementation is rarely reported. This paper describes us of an OSIsoft RtDB to monitor real time operation status, unit performance, real time damage & RBI analysis and to deliver critical information to the right person at the right time. It describes how to achieve the highest reliability of operation and maintenance management of power plants.
