Big Data and the PI System, Part 1
Big Data is a mega-trend that is all over the technology news, promising to help companies turn data into dollars. Come and learn more about the landscape of big data tools and how the PI System fits into this rapidly evolving ecosystem. We will highlight several customers who are using big data tools now to discover new insights and make better decisions. We will also demonstrate how big data tools from partners SAP and Microsoft can integrate real-time sensor-based operational data from the PI System with data throughout the enterprise, delivering an infrastructure for continuous improvement.
John Baier is the Director of Integration Technologies at OSIsoft. In his role, Baier and his team develop products that bring data into the PI System from hundreds of source systems spanning multiple industries. His team also works on ways of integrating PI System data with enterprise business systems so that customers can make great decisions in real time. Baier came to OSIsoft five years ago after 23 years at Rockwell Automation, where he held roles in software engineering, engineering management, business management, and software architecture. He is the inventor on over a dozen US Patents in the area of plant floor information management and factory controls. Baier holds a BS in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University.
