2002 - User Conference - Monterey
Two experienced C developers will relate their journey in switching from C and Visual Basic, to the new Microsoft .NET development environment, framework, and the C# language. They will discuss the features of .NET that make it a powerful tool for developing the PI Application Framework, and will highlight the pitfalls and stumbling blocks they have found along the way. Additionally, they will focus on what they encountered calling the PI-SDK and PI-API from the .NET languages.
Chris Manhard has been a software developer in the Industrial Automation field for 18 years, developing plc programming software in C, C , and Visual Basic. He joined OSI in 2001 where he is heavily involved in building the PI Application Framework which is leveraging technologies in .NET.
David Hearn has been a software developer in the Industrial Automation field for 16 years, developing C/C software, most recently for embedded real-time control. He joined OSI in 2001 and is also working on the PI Application Framework using .NET.
