Enabling Autonomous Airspace Security with PI System (Airspace Systems)
Off-the-shelf drones that can be modified to wreak havoc are available on Amazon for as little as a few hundred dollars. These tiny flying machines can travel up to 75 mph, be launched more than 25 miles away from their target, and are easy to program so no remote control is needed to fly them, making them fully autonomous, radio-free and jam-proof. As a result, the use of weaponized drones – whether for espionage, injury, damage, or disruption – is a very real and growing problem for critical infrastructure in general and the Transmission & Distribution industry specifically. In this session, Airspace Systems’ CTO Guy Bar-Nahum will discuss the threat rogue drones pose to the Transmission & Distribution industry and detail how Airspace real-time data from multiple sensors, coupled with artificial intelligence and machine learning, can be integrated into PI systems.

Guy Bar-Nahum is CTO at Airspace Systems, which uses AI and advanced robotics to provide fully automated, always-on solutions that deliver long-range detection, instant identification, and safe capture and removal of unauthorized or malicious drones. Guy held senior positions at Apple and Samsung in the center of the mobile revolution. He joined Apple as the first member of the iPod Software engineering team in 2001, where he was instrumental in building the team and shaping iPod and iPhone technology until 2008. During his tenure at Apple, Guy participated in the movement that defined the mobile era we live in today and transformed Apple from a troubled computer company into a cultural and business powerhouse. After Apple, Guy was Vice President of Samsung Mobile User Experience Lab at Silicon Valley, responsible for creating new disruptive mobile products and services for Samsung Mobile. He focused on bringing dataset value and fostering deep integration of web and 3rd party value into the mobile experience, development of new mobile sensors, new form factors, beyond the handset and tablet, Internet-of-Things and Wearables all the way to autonomous systems.
