Airports

Students can arrive at either the Oakland Airport (OAK) or the San Francisco Airport (SFO). San Jose International Airport (SJC) is also nearby. The Oakland Airport is much closer to our offices. However, students sometimes prefer the San Francisco Airport because of slightly lower fares and a wider choice of carriers and connections.

Plan on driving 10 - 15 minutes from the Oakland Airport to OSIsoft. From the San Francisco Airport you should allow at least 50 minutes driving time to OSIsoft. We suggest you schedule flights out of Oakland no sooner than 1 hour after the end of class. For the San Francisco airport we recommend flights no sooner than 2 hours after the end of class.

Hotels

There are many lodging options in the Bay Area.  Many of our students find it convenient to stay close to the Training Center.  This usually means selecting one of the hotels we have listed here. Both offer shuttle service to the OSIsoft corporate offices and training facility. 

Many people find their training a convenient opportunity to enjoy San Francisco.  Because our offices are adjacent to the San Leandro Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Station, many students choose to stay in San Francisco and ride the BART system trains to OSIsoft.  The most convenient arrangement is to stay in the Union Square, Financial District, or South of Market (SoMA) neighborhoods of San Francisco.  These are generally near BART stations.  The ride to and from downtown San Francisco is about 20 minutes.

Please note the Extended Stay Hotel properties are some distance from the training center / office and you will be required to rent a car.  Plan for additional delays due to traffic congestion in the morning and evening.

San Francisco

For those wishing to stay in San Francisco there are many alternatives.  When you find a hotel downtown please inquire as to how far they are away from the nearest BART station.  It is very expensive to park a car in San Francisco, and most hotels charge a premium for that convenience.  For that reason most people take public transportation to and around the city.  The OSIsoft offices are a 20 minute ride via BART from downtown San Francisco.  You will most likely have to walk to and from the BART station (normally only a few blocks).

Many travel sites allow you to search different areas of San Francisco for rates, and most offer better deals than the standard published prices.  OSIsoft currently has no corporate rates with any specific hotels in San Francisco.  As San Francisco is a popular tourist and business destination, the rates for good rooms will be higher than staying locally.  You will want to search the Union Square, Financial District, or South of Market (SoMA) neighborhoods of San Francisco. 

Ground Transportation

Most students rent a car during the training.  However, most local hotels will offer students a shuttle service to the OSIsoft classroom in the morning and pickup in the afternoon.

FROM OAKLAND AIRPORT:
Most local hotels will pick you up at the Oakland Airport airport in their shuttle.  Please contact the hotel to get details on how to arrange that transportation.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
You can take an airport shuttle van or car from the San Francisco International Airport but it can be expensive.  Expect to pay more than one hundred US Dollars plus gratuity.  More information on specific carriers can be found at: http://www.sftravel.com/airport_shuttle_east_bay.html.

An Alternative to renting a car: The BART System:
You can use the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) System to travel the Bay Area. They have an almost around the clock schedule and the fares are very reasonable. Parking is not a problem at OSIsoft but it can present challenges in the downtown areas of San Francisco and Oakland - popular after class destinations. Many students choose public transportation over renting a car.  Visit http://www.bart.gov for more information.

When coming to town take BART to the San Leandro station. From the San Leandro BART station you can take a taxi or call your hotel for shuttle service (check with the hotels for availability on your class dates).

Getting to OSIsoft San Leandro

From the BART station: If you are staying in Dublin/Pleasanton or in San Francisco, you may choose to take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit, our commuter rail system) to OSI. You must exit at the San Leandro BART station.   OSIsoft is 3 story white building to the northwest of the BART station.  (East is toward the hills. West is toward the Bay.  The BART tracks run north/south.) If you exit the BART building at the west door, you can follow the sidewalk north about 30 yards and then turn west to exit the parking lot through the fence.  You should see the OSIsoft building on the northwest corner of the city block that includes the BART station. The sign facing Davis street reads "OSIsoft Plaza."

From I-880: Take the Davis Street exit to San Leandro. Follow Davis street east towards downtown. Continue east on Davis Street until you arrive at Alvarado Street.  (This is just before the BART tracks cross over Davis Street.)  Make a right on Alvarado Street and a left into the parking lot of OSIsoft.  OSIsoft, Inc. is at 777 Davis Street. It is on the right side as you go east. The sign facing Davis street reads "OSIsoft Plaza."

From the Marina Inn: Follow Marina Boulevard east to Doolittle Avenue. Turn left onto Doolittle and go north to Davis Street. Turn right on Davis Street. You should now be traveling east. Continue east on Davis Street until you arrive at Alvarado Street.  (This is just before the BART tracks (subway) cross over Davis Street.)  Make a right on Alvarado Street and a left into the parking lot of OSIsoft.  OSIsoft, Inc. is at 777 Davis Street. It is on the right side as you go east. The sign facing Davis street reads "OSIsoft Plaza."
