The Centre will set the standard for monitoring operations for OSIsoft clients
Montréal, January 14, 2009 - OSIsoft, the leader in enterprise infrastructure for the management of time series data and events, today announced the opening of its Global Network Operation Centre. Located at OSIsoft’s Canadian headquarters in Montréal, this new centralized surveillance and diagnostic facility will be one of 4 Global Network Operation Centres around the world. These Centres ensure that OSIsoft technologies are operating optimally at customer sites.
The OSIsoft PI (plant information) system has been implemented in more than 14,000 facilities in the manufacturing, energy, utilities, life-sciences, and data-centre industries, providing real-time solutions that help to improve operational performance. More than 600 installations are now monitored by the specialists at the Montréal Centre and at the other Centres located in Singapore, San Francisco, and Frankfort.
The Centre, which performs more than 20,000,000 calculations per day in order to evaluate the performance of its systems, is supervised by a team of Technical Support Engineers who monitor and take the necessary steps to resolve detected anomalies and avoid potential problems. According to Martin Jetté, General Manager of OSIsoft Canada: “Our Network Operating Center and our support team are available 24 hours per day, and are dedicated to ensuring that all systems under our supervision run optimally. The systems are monitored in real time, which allows our engineers to identify problems and solve them quickly, often before the user even realizes that there is a problem.”
The Montréal Network Operation Centre supports a new OSIsoft product offering called Managed PI. Managed PI provides professional installation, support and automatic updates for all monitored products, and ensures optimum performance of OSIsoft products by increasing their availability, standardizing the environment, and freeing up resources. Key staff now have more time to improve their processes and create value-added applications.
