The PI System® connects to real-time and event data every second, every minute, every day, and archives it indefinitely.

Measure and interpret time-series and event data securely from virtually anywhere, and virtually any source, at time intervals and sampling rates customized to your business needs.

Connect to over 400 data systems and sources out of the box, including:

  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Energy Management Systems (EMS)
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Batch execution systems
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Maintenance systems
  • Relational databases
  • Mobile solutions (hand-held devices and scanners for field entry)
  • The Internet
  • Manual entry screens
  • Manufacturing automation systems
  • Information technology equipment

PI Interface developers are ready to create connectivity for new or unique automation systems.

Monitor a wide variety of mission-critical process and business conditions including:

  • Flow rates
  • Temperature
  • Pressure

The PI System in action — Condition based maintenance

Use the data from equipment sensors monitoring your assets’ health to increase maintenance efficiency. Then create automated policies and procedures that schedule maintenance exactly when needed and with minimal process or business impact.

OSIsoft is expert at creating interfaces.  If we do not already have an interface ready for you or are not already developing one, we have a development team ready.

Additional Interface Detail:

Interface Function
Manual Logger Easily, securely, and reliably record data on PCs and mobile devices.
PI OPC Clients OPC (OLE for Process Control or Open Connectivity) is a standard established by the OPC Foundation task force to allow applications to access plant floor process data in a consistent manner.
PI COM Connectors PI COM Connectors establish connectivity between the PI server and other enterprise systems such as relational databases or other data historians without replicating data in the PI Data Archive.
PI to PI Interface Allows the transferral of PI data between two PI Servers. Can be run either on the destination server by “pulling” the data or on the source server by “pushing” the data.
PI BACnet Interface The PI BACnet (Building Automation and Control network) Interface acquires data from devices on BACnet and stores them in the PI System, providing live data and a full history of your building automation systems.
