PI for StreamInsight

PI for StreamInsight integrates the PI System with Microsoft® StreamInsight™ a Complex Event Processing development platform. PI System events can then be processed and analyzed using Microsoft StreamInsight applications and queries. Streaming data from Microsoft StreamInsight can also be written to the PI System.

Business Challenge

As part of a proof of concept pilot, a large Oil & Gas company wanted to perform vibration analysis to monitor for critical events.

Implementation

The company used PI for StreamInsight and Microsoft StreamInsight to dynamically monitor simulated vibration data for critical events. When critical events occur, data for a fixed time before, during, and after the event are written to the PI System where they are stored.

Customer Result/Benefit

The company was able to monitor high speed data in real-time, detect, and record significant events, thus filtering information for users. With the events stored in the PI System, the information was available to all their users enterprise wide. PI System users could then easily perform additional analysis to discover the source of the problem.
