OSIsoft PI System Evolution at Magnelec
The OSIsoft PI System was implemented in Magnelec in 2001, where we pioneered the use of RTPM technologies in the Peñoles Group. We started with 3172 tags in the PI Server, obtaining data from different control systems through interfaces such as:
- ABB-PI
- ABB-PI G2
- PI to PI
- PI-OPC
In 2006 the control system was migrated to DeltaV, which communicates through an OPC Interface with the PI Server. In 2007 we introduced the RDBMS interfaces with laboratory system and costs system. Starting in 2010 an OPC interface with the electrical measurement system (ION) historicized more than 50 tags of critical process of the plant. Currently, the IP server archives the history of over 5000 points.

Cynthia Cedillo MartínezCynthia Cedillo is a systems engineer and an Instituto Tecnologico de la Laguna graduate. She has worked for the Peñoles group since 2007 in the IT dept. as a Technical Advisor in information systems. Since August 2008 she has run the PI server administrator in Magnelec unit. She has extensive experience in generating interfaces for sending data to the PI server.
