Achieving Reliability-Centered Maintenance and Diagnostics with the PI System
Maintenance organizations perform a delicate balancing act; either they waste valuable time and resources by performing equipment maintenance too soon or they risk wasting costly unplanned downtime by waiting too long. The PI System can help customers strike a balance by providing the analytics, modeling, and visualization tools needed to identify the earliest signs of trouble so corrective action can be taken based on real time conditions. Using the Alyeska Pipeline as an example, this presentation will demonstrate successful deployment of the PI System to predict and prevent costly system downtime, to optimize maintenance department resources, and to guide future design decisions in order to achieve a more maintenance-friendly world.
This talk will describe the business drivers behind the project, goals accomplished, lessons learned, and plans for future system development. The presentation will include visual illustrations that emphasize PI-AF and MOSS/RtWebParts as well as other Microsoft technologies employed in the solution. Hammond and Wiley will also touch on tangential benefits to other project stakeholders including administrative, environmental, and engineering personnel.
