A Corporate View of Energy Saving with the PI System
A division of Cascades, called the Energy Action Group, is tracking all the energy consumption and cost for 160 facilities. A FoxPro database was used to hold the records, but it was taking 15 minutes per facility to produce a report. With the PI System, a lot of manual entries were eliminated and we reduced the time for reports to 10 seconds. We are now able to have much more information than total kilowatt consumption and price. Also, with real-time measurements we changed the way we run some of our machines. We are planning to use the OSIsoft Real-time Performance Management (RtPM) Platform at the corporate level soon.
