One of the main challenges of all modern companies in a world with increasing globalization is to reach their production goals at lesser costs, in order to remain competitive. Codelco Chile Division El Teniente, through its Caletones’s smelting thinks that one way of reaching this objective is by supporting the operational continuity of its processes. A system was designed and developed using technologies like PI Module Database, WEB, WEB Services, Wireless and PDA to support the decision making that must be made by the Engineers of Smelting. The developed system is formable, allowing each engineer to define the key variables and alarms for its management. The system alerts them in any place by means of vibration and sound when it detects situations that put production in risk.
