SAP PP-PI

Interface to SAP R/3 PP-PI (Production Planning – Process Industries)

The SAP PP-PI module manages the production process in conjunction with the process control systems, by directing resources (raw material, equipment etc.), recipes, process-steps and aggregated data collection.

The PI System, the engine of the OSIsoft PI System, collects the process/equipment data from the plant/shop floor and RLINK provides them in a format that can be used by SAP PP-PI. Examples of data and production/plant floor events sent to SAP by RLINK are resource (raw material, equipment etc.) utilization, batch status, yield etc.

The data flow between SAP R/3, PP-PI and PCS (Plant Control System). The PI System module and RLINK (components of the OSIsoft PI System) provide the integration between SAP and the plant floor.

OSIsoft’s integration with SAP PP-PI provides support for the following capabilities:

  • Supports all standard SAP PP-PI instructions such as APROD, ACONS, ACRST, APHST etc.
  • Additional BAPIs are supported for Material Movements, Material Details, Material Batches,
  • Production Orders and Repetitive Manufacturing
  • Extensible with ad-hoc messages and general SAP transaction support
  • Pull and push of recipes from SAP
  • Alias for SAP instructions if a standard PP-PI instruction is not being used
  • Extensive error checking
  • Displays recipe and operational information in PI ProcessBook graphics environment
  • RtWebparts/SAP iViews for data analysis in a browser, including support for SAP Enterprise Portal
  • Integrates with batch execution systems
  • Interfaces via PI-PCS (Process Instruction - Process Control System) RFC and BAPI Library and certified by SAP
