Integrated with SAP AMI Integration for Utilities to Deliver Energy Consumption to Customers
San Leandro, CA – January 4, 2010–OSIsoft, LLC (www.osisoft.com) today announced that its Meter Data Unification and Synchronization (MDUS) system is now an SAP-endorsed business solution. Solutions endorsed by SAP AG are complementary to SAP® software offerings, are developed in accordance with SAP development guidelines, and provide additional choices and flexibility for businesses running SAP applications.
The OSIsoft MDUS offers a solution that integrates AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) head-end systems with SAP AMI Integration for Utilities software. The OSIsoft MDUS solution used in combination with SAP AMI Integration for Utilities allows customers to leverage new metering systems for two-way communication, with frequent meter reads. AMI is an underlying technology to assist utilities in addressing energy demands, environmental concerns and government-mandated billing systems. The OSIsoft MDUS uses OSIsoft’s PI System to manage the high volume of meter data; OSIsoft has three decades of experience in the critical data management component.
The OSIsoft MDUS delivers clean integration between a utility’s meter system and SAP AMI Integration for Utilities and provides the ability to integrate meter data with other operational data. It serves as a real-time data collector, which is head-end system vendor-independent. As an additional benefit, the OSIsoft MDUS can be extended beyond AMI to address other Smart Grid initiatives. For example, the OSIsoft MDUS design allows utilities to easily leverage meter data into their operation management systems, such as outage management systems, demand response and other Smart Grid applications.
Because the OSIsoft MDUS is an SAP-endorsed business solution, users receive integrated support from SAP and OSIsoft. As part of the agreement between OSIsoft and SAP, both companies will share technology and product roadmaps. OSIsoft MDUS has been previously certified by SAP under the name Meter Data Unification System 1.0.0 for integration with the SAP for Utilities 6.0 solution portfolio via enterprise services (Enterprise Service Bundle (ESOA-Bundle) 1.0 Utility – Advanced Meter Infrastructure scenario).
“OSIsoft is now working with SAP to bring together the business process and metering infrastructure,” said Jon Peterson, Vice President, Marketing at OSIsoft. “Integration between the meter systems and the customer information system is a critical component of AMI. OSIsoft worked with SAP to help insure connectivity between OSIsoft MDUS and SAP AMI Integration for Utilities. Plus, it is backed up with extensive testing by SAP and certification of the OSIsoft MDUS.”
“By endorsing solutions such as the OSIsoft MDUS system, SAP continues to build its ecosystem, drive new levels of collaboration, and provide additional choices and flexibility to our customers,” said Stefan Engelhardt, Head of Utilities Industry Business Unit, SAP. “Use of the OSIsoft MDUS system with SAP solutions will enable our customers to improve efficiencies and employee productivity, thus accelerating delivery of innovative products to market while lowering total cost of ownership.”
