OSIsoft Launches PI System® 2010

New Offering Includes PI Server 2010, PI Data Access 2010 and PI for Office 2010

San Leandro, CA – August 4, 2010 – OSIsoft, LLC, the leader in real-time data infrastructure solutions for management of real-time data and events, today announced launch of its PI System 2010. The new offering includes PI Server 2010, PI Data Access 2010, and expanded functionality in PI for Office 2010.

“In PI System 2010 we see a culmination of our decades-long effort to provide easy to use products that give you better access to real-time information,” said Dr. J. Patrick Kennedy, CEO and founder of OSIsoft.

PI Server 2010
PI Server 2010 combines the time-series data archiving capabilities of the PI Data Archive with asset metadata management in the PI Asset Framework (AF).  PI AF, which is based on Microsoft SQL Server technology, empowers OSIsoft customers to leverage an asset-centric view of their entire PI System.  With PI AF, users can now organize data so they can find, access, and visualize key information in PI Client products and the new PI Data Access products.  OSIsoft protects existing investments that leverage PI Points and the PI Module Database (MDB), by allowing the user to migrate from MDB to AF without impacting existing deployments such as PI ACE calculations or other MDB-based applications.  PI Server 2010 enhances the current analytics functionality of Performance Equations (PE), Totalizers, and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) by including new capabilities with PI Advanced Computing Engine (ACE) and PI Notifications.

PI Data Access 2010
The new PI Data Access 2010 family enables development of custom applications on the PI System, plus integration of the PI System into products such as Microsoft Office, SQL Server, SharePoint, SAP systems and many others. New products in the PI Data Access group include PI OLEDB Enterprise, PI Web Services and PI JDBC, which together provide a wide variety of data access possibilities, on many operating systems and in various programming languages.  A PI System Access (PSA) license has been created to allow access to all PI System data across the enterprise, from any location, and from a multitude of platforms.  Developers and integrators can obtain development licenses through OSIsoft Virtual Campus (vCampus).

PI for Office 2010
With the enhancements in PI for Office 2010, PI System users have access to all the functionality needed to use PI System data in Microsoft Office 2010.  Users can create reports in Excel 2003, 2007 or 2010, can build dashboards in their choice of SharePoint 2007 or 2010, can integrate system alarms and status notifications with Office Communicator 2007 R2, and can enter data or launch workflows with PI Web Services 2010 and Microsoft InfoPath. These new enhancements also enable users to leverage data analysis capabilities of Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel and Microsoft PowerPivot for SharePoint through a solid integration with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
