Energy Efficiency Exports to Russia Recognized
SAN LEANDRO, CA–(December 4, 2009) OSIsoft (www.osisoft.com), providers of the PI System®, the industry-standard enterprise infrastructure for management of time-series data and events, today received a federal Export Achievement Certificate for its success in exporting clean technology to Russia.
The award recognized the sales of OSIsoft product for energy efficiency had the added effect of generating additional exports of US-manufactured hardware and services.
Ro Khanna, Deputy Assistant Secretary, U.S. Commercial Service (USCS), presented the award at the “Clean Technology Export Opportunities & Insights” conference held on the Hayward campus of California State University East Bay. "We may not be the leaders in solar and wind," Khanna noted, "but in energy efficiency, we are the leaders."
In accepting the award, Nand Ramchandani, a business development executive with OSIsoft LLC, explained that much of the company's growth is driven by exports and services for energy firms. About 40 percent of OSIsoft revenues come from the power sector, Ramchandani said. He also noted that software exports can trigger jobs beyond software-related activities. "For every $1 of software that is exported, at least $20 of hardware and other services have to be exported," Ramchandani said. "These are primarily American products."
An OSIsoft partner, SunPower Corp., also received an award at the same ceremony for its export success in India. The Export Achievement Certificate program recognizes small and medium-sized U.S. businesses that have either successfully entered the international marketplace for the first time or have entered a new market, therefore creating and sustaining American jobs.
Economists at the Commerce Department, who are focused on an export-driven rebalancing of the US economy as a way to drive the country’s economy and lead the way out of the current high unemployment, recognized both company’s achievements in generating additional international trade when they analyzed cross-linked sales of exports.
