Microsoft Reference Architecture for Oil & Gas Workshop

The Microsoft Reference Architecture for Oil & Gas workshop will provide attendees an opportunity to listen and discuss topics which relate to the Oil & Gas industry, best practices in the use of the PI System in the Oil & Gas upstream and downstream segments, and the Microsoft Reference Architecture for Oil & Gas. The format will be a combination of demonstrations, industry trend perspectives, and facilitated discussion by OSIsoft and Microsoft executives, PI System users, partners and leading Oil & Gas industry experts.
The Microsoft Reference Architecture for Oil & Gas describes a set of foundational principles for establishing consistent performance. However, it also provides the flexibility for companies to innovate and establish competitive differences. Microsoft and participating partners are defined an upstream reference architecture that will provide guidance and support for the upstream Oil & Gas industry. Upstream technical and business professionals must be able to select individual tools and technologies to best meet the challenges specific to their companies and then integrate those tools and technologies into seamless and flexible composite solutions. These composite solutions are vital to enabling the data sharing, collaboration, and cooperation to support the integrated operations needed to meet twenty-first-century energy demands. One specific benefit of the reference architecture: it will facilitate declarative integration, a term used to describe how individual applications can configure and connect at run time. Declarative integration is crucial to delivering the composite solutions required by upstream oil and gas.

Additionally, focus groups will be discussed and established to provide follow-up on key deliverables and topics of interest.
