Use of Complex Event Processing Technology from Microsoft Will Enable PI System to Enhance its Streaming PI Analytics
SAN LEANDRO, CA. – (May 11, 2009) OSIsoft, the industry standard in enterprise infrastructure for management of time series data and events, announced that it is incorporating advanced low latency Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology from Microsft Corp. into its PI System.
Complex event processing platform from Microsoft captures data from system-level, application-level and external events and correlates them into patterns, to provide customers with better insight. The close relationship between OSIsoft and Microsoft will make possible early adoption of the new CEP technology when it is made available next year.
“OSIsoft will be using the complex event processing technology from Microsoft to expand the functionalities of the PI infrastructure,” according to Dr. J. Patrick Kennedy, Founder and CEO of OSIsoft, LLC “When this technology platform is offered from Microsoft next year, we can offer PI users streaming complex analytics with enhanced performance and scalability to solve problems in new domains such as Smart Grid, energy management, and sustainability.”
“Microsoft chose to collaborate with OSIsoft because of its experience in creating a real-time event-driven infrastructure for manufacturing, utilities and data center customers,” said Ted Kummert, senior vice president in the Business Platform Division at MicrosoftCorp. “Microsoft and OSIsoft are already engaged with customers who are interested in the benefits of this new platform offering.”
