When a customer orders manufacturing products over the Web, corporate ERP systems need to be able to supply an accurate inventory count and to know exactly when the product can ship. A chemicals company used the PI System to monitor raw material inventories, material consumptions and finished goods production levels and roll these up to ERP. Material movements and post inventories of interim materials were monitored throughout the supply chain. By seamlessly integrating the Make (manufacturing) process with their Sell, Deliver and e-Commerce processes the company was able, within four hours, to give customers accurate order data (where, when, quantity, cost), quality data (COA, SPC) and shipping status (who, when, etc.).
