OPC 3: The Sequel for UA

OLE for Process Control (OPC) is now a well accepted data access standard, and is especially prevalent on factory floor devices and machines. From its inception, OSIsoft has been actively involved in the OPC Foundation and has been intimately involved in creating the OPC UA specification. Now, as the OPC Foundation is poised to release a suite of specifications and tools for OPC UA (Unified Architecture), OSIsoft customers are understandably curious about how this will work with the PI System. This presentation discusses how OSIsoft’s real-time data management infrastructure, the PI System, will leverage the enterprise-aware OPC UA standard. Tom Burke, President of the OPC Foundation, will cover the features and benefits of using OPC UA as a communications infrastructure. Customers will gain an understanding of how OSIsoft’s implementation of OPC UA can help them access and expose their asset model, notifications, and time-series data securely and more effectively.
