Enterprise PI with High Availability and Remote Management
Enterprise deployment includes licensing, installation, and remote analysis and repair of RtPM/PI. OSIsoft has enhanced PI to capture real-time system performance metrics and report to a central station to analyze system performance with enhanced monitoring of the operating environment including OS, network, and connections. Notable events are acted upon 24/7 by OSIsoft as part of the new Enterprise Network Operations Center (NOC). Remote PI Systems are now making their own support calls. Our goal is to resolve problems or alert the customer site, often before the users know that there is an issue. Preventive actions to insure robust operation include automated installation of tested updates to keep the “managed” software current. This encompasses management of increasing complex systems, including redundancy, separate test and development systems, and back-up control centers. Our goal is the highest availability of RtPM infrastructure and improved data quality by use of advanced techniques such as HA deployment combined with close monitoring and updates by OSIsoft.

Don Smith
Don Smith is the Engineering Program Manager and is responsible for the Enterprise Managed PI program development. He joined OSIsoft as the second employee in 1981 and has participated in numerous aspects of the development of products and services throughout the twenty-five year history of OSIsoft. He has a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and prior to OSIsoft held positions in Plant construction, operations, and Software design for Alcoa Refining and Chemicals Division. His hobbies include jogging, diving, and sailing. He is known by many for using PI to manage and analyze his marine aquarium since 1996.

Jon Peterson
Jon Peterson is OSIsoft’s Vice President of Engineering. He commenced working with OSIsoft in 1992 and prior to this role led the PI server group, demonstrating strong leadership in both the PI flagship technology and product rollouts. Mr. Peterson had nine years experience working in Process Engineering before coming to OSIsoft. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University.

Alton Loe
Alton Loe has been working at OSIsoft for 11 years. He is currently the Director of PI Services, responsible for the rollout and maintenance of the Enterprise PI solution for OSIsoft. Previously, Mr. Loe was Director of Professional Services, where he managed the services arm for OSIsoft. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University and over 30 years of experience in information and control systems.
