Reliant Resources Fleet-wide Deployment of the PI System 

In 2001-2002 Reliant Resources, Inc. implemented the "Common Plant Historian" project. This project encompassed the roll out of the PI System at Reliant’s many power generation facilities across the U.S. In this presentation we will cover: Who we are (RRI); Disparate Plant Systems & Data Challenges; Business Case and Benefits; and Project Status/Accomplishments.

Mr. David Thomason has 22 years experience in the electrical utility industry. He has held various responsibilities in Distribution Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, and Information Technology. He currently manages IT for Generation Development, West Operations and the Common Plant Historian System.

Joseph Milton

Mr. Joseph Milton, P.E. is currently a Project Manager and Consultant for Reliant Resources in Houston. He is a technical expert in the fields of thermodynamics, power plant performance and efficiency. Mr. Milton serves as a consultant in these areas for Reliant Energy as a whole and as a mentor for other engineers he comes in contact with. His technical papers are noted for their uniqueness and originality. He has led two Performance Test Code Committees to successful completion and also the publication of code documents. For the power generation industry has conducted over 50 separate power plant acceptance tests and developed computer coded testing and data acquisition in advance of personal computers. Mr. Milton earned his bachelor's (1981) and MEME (1982) degrees at the University of Florida, both in Mechanical Engineering. Currently is a fellow of ASME.
