Transmission & Distribution St. Louis 2004
Real Time DG Control and Reliability Improvements
Results of a DOE project at Detroit Edison in which PI is being used to gather and synchronize distribution circuit voltage/current measurements and distributed generation power outputs is discussed. The control of distributed generation to remove low voltages and equipment overloads is presented. The control calculations communicate DG generation set points to PI, which in turn sends the set points to DG field controllers. Improvements in reliability via the application of distributed generators is addressed.
