GWF communicates predicted hourly MW delivery capability for its six Peaking Combustion Turbines several days into the future. In addition to any known derivations, GWF includes impacts of forecast local temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, grid congestion, and turbine-specific performance characteristics. GWF has negated the need for a 24-hour scheduling desk through the automation of this process, including hourly retrieval of updated forecasts.
Peter will review the programmatic methodology of GWFs applications, he will discuss extracting data from the CaISO OASIS website; which reports can be programmatically downloaded; the process of retrieving the report; automatic launching of the application; error handling and common errors; redundant application runs to accommodate errors; historical versus future data; and Genericizing the process.
