PI T&D Implementation Overview

After two years of evaluation, SDG&E purchased the PI System this year, to enhance the real-time monitoring system (EMS and DMS) displays and enhance/replace the home-grown, in-house developed EMS historical data warehouse application. SDG&E started the PI implementation in May, 2003, after a few months of development and hard work, including ICCP, database, fine-tuning, PI ProcessBook/PI DataLink/PI ActiveView and Module Database implementation, the PI System is becoming the data center of Electric Transmission (15,000 points, including backfilled data since 1995) and Distribution (35,000 points) SCADA. The PI System is also becoming a potential component of SDG&E T&D Engineering Data Warehouse for all time series data with 90 different interfaces.
