Global Acquisitions and Mergers: Keeping PI in Focus
As companies grow through mergers and acquisitions, the new corporate entity begins to focus on the global aspects of the business. There tends to be little emphasis on mill specific activities such as the innovative use of PI applications. Domtar Inc. is one such company that has grown in size over the last few years through the merger of several companies in Canada and the U.S. In keeping with its philosophy of sharing technical expertise, a new initiative was launched at Domtar to develop a network of IT and process specialists to ensure that PI systems are used effectively company wide. This initiative is coordinated by our corporate Technology and IT Groups. In this presentation we will discuss Domtar’s networking strategy and how the company is getting the most from PI as a result. Also, we will highlight some of the PI applications that our mills have developed.
