OSIsoft, a leader in enterprise performance management software, today announced new releases of PI DataLink and RtWebParts as an Office Business Application (OBA). The PI Visuals and PI Analytics layer, integrated with the 2007 Microsoft Office system, brings operational data and technologies together in real-time, easy-to-understand dashboard formats, fueling the business decision cycle to drive real-time collaboration and intelligent actions at an infrastructure level.
“For the past 14 years, OSIsoft has continually incorporated new innovations on the Microsoft platform,” said Prabal Acharyya, director of the Microsoft Global Alliance. “OBAs enable us to deliver unified, role-based SharePoint dashboard views of information with the PI System across the enterprise and to unlock the value of the PI data for our enterprise customers in a service oriented architecture.”
The release of RtWebParts on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 represents an important step in building responsive, virtual teams that can act in context and use the most up-to-date information for decision making regardless of their time zone or organization. PI DataLink for Excel Services enables users to apply PI real-time analytical functions using the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 web part while integrating PI DataLink functions into the RtWebParts environment. This functionality gives them the ability to validate and lock down important analyses on the server.
Chris Colyer, worldwide director of Plant Operations Strategies at Microsoft, said, “OSIsoft quickly embraced the benefits that Office Business Applications offer. OSIsoft created products that bring the mountains of data generated by plant applications to life in the familiar Office environment. OSIsoft turns data into actionable information.”
“For more than 25 years, OSIsoft has delivered on a promise to provide the most advanced and secure way to manage real-time information,” says Dr. J. Patrick Kennedy, President and CEO, OSIsoft. “By working with Microsoft, we have been able to use the PI System’s event-driven streaming architecture to take advantage of the benefits of OBAs, and provide operational insights to our customers, leading to better, faster, more relevant decisions and actions.”
