Mr. Chopra also discussed how the concept of crowd sourcing innovation, combined with the legal authority of Congress, has allowed the United States government to reach innovators in every corner of the country. The ability to host challenges and promote competitions has created an alternative channel for innovation that brings bottom-up ideas to market. By using technology to embrace the spirit of open innovation, Mr. Chopra’s office is able to find new talent to address the challenges of the country and has the potential to fuel American success into the 21st century.

The 2011 OSIsoft – Microsoft Executive Summit challenged industry leaders, executives and policy makers to not only discuss industry trends and directions, but also to consider data at a new level. Data can no longer be used solely for historical purposes and reporting. Organizations and professionals alike are now challenged to develop a new analytical skillset. Part of this new reality requires organizations and professionals to understand the context of these datasets, make insightful decisions and attempt to predict future events to create a new level of readiness for what may come.
