User Conference Learning Labs

Learning Labs at OSIsoft User Conference 2008

The OSIsoft Learning Labs this year feature computers configured with a variety of more than 25 hands-on labs for you to work on. The labs teach our latest new technology such as PI Notifications, AF, RtWebParts, PI ProcessBook 3.1, MCN Health Monitor, and more. Each workstation has a binder full of printed Learning Labs to choose from, and each lab defines the objective, gives a suggested approach that includes all details but requires that the student provide a solution, and demonstrates a step-by-step solution. OSIsoft employees from the training, field service, and technical support groups will be on hand to help.

The Learning Labs teach a variety of tasks. For example, some simple labs allow users to create a MOSS (Microsoft Office SharePoint Services) web part page and add RtWebParts to show real-time data on the web. Most Learning Labs involve moderately challenging tasks such as how to create an element structure in PI AF, add a PI Notification to track a data reference on that element, and trigger an e-mail notification when certain conditions exist.

There are many programming Learning Labs as well, such as a lab to create the elements in an AF asset database programmatically using Visual C# or Visual Basic .NET.

Learning Labs will be held on Thursday at the end of the User Conference, and you may select either a morning or afternoon session. Cost for the Learning Labs is $395. You will have the opportunity to enroll when you register for the conference.
