Information about Amsterdam


If you plan on putting in a little extra time before or after the conference, here is some information to get you started.

The city centre, canals and museums are only a ten-minute walk or five-minute tram ride from the hotel. Canal boats and water taxis stop in front of the hotel.

Amsterdam Canal Cruise

Amsterdam's canals are its signature and arguably most beautiful feature, so if you only do one thing in Amsterdam, make it a canal cruise. Whether in an open-top canal boat or self-pedaled "canal bike," this is the best way to see dozens of spectacular Amsterdam sights in a short period of time, including 17th-century mansions, tree-lined neighborhoods, quirky houseboats and stunning architecture ranging from medieval to modern. Amsterdam Walking Tour

Anne Frank House

Rijksmuseum

Van Gogh Museum

De Niewe Kerk

Amsterdam's De Nieuwe Kerk is renowned for its much-discussed exhibitions. With hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, the church is one of the most popular exhibition venues in the Netherlands. More details: www.nieuwekerk.nl

Bloemenmarkt


The Singel flower market is one of the most colorful and fragrant places of interest of Amsterdam in all four seasons. It is unique in that the merchandise is displayed on floating barges. This is a relic from the days when the flowers and plants sold at this market were shipped in from the horticultural areas around the city by barges. Fresh flowers are still brought in every day, although today by vans rather than by boat. Amsterdam Diamond Centre

Rent a Bicycle

Marvel at five centuries of architectural grandeur-and wonderfully flat roads. Do what the locals do and rent a bicycle.
